How Solar Pumps on Amazon Try to Trick the Consumer

Why are there so many solar water pumps on Amazon- and why are they so cheap? The easy answer is that Amazon relies on direct sales from foreign factories to fill up the online marketplace with cheap, tempting goods. And for $80 we could understand why anyone would open their wallet and say “what the hell, it can’t be that bad”. Or can it?

But we wanted to be fair to these companies,I mean they have 5 star reviews so someone in US must like what they’re buying. Unless those 5 star reviews are suspiciously written like someon who was PAID to write the review, or the 5 star reviews say they didn’t actually like the product, yet its still highly rated. Many of these companies don’t have any reviews even on their own websites, or accessible websites/ contact information outside of posting on Amazon. We’ve figured out that these brands have a system to avoid alerting consumers to the scam…

Post Cheap Water Pump on Amazon –> Pay For 4 or 5 Star Fake Reviews –> Keep Product Listing Up Until the Average Star Rating Drops Below About a 3 –> Repost Product Under Slightly Different Name or Brand –> Repeat

RPS is a solar pump company based in the US, with US employees and US support staff. We’ve become just as confused as to why all these imposter pumps are cropping up in US markets and wreaking havoc on consumers. So we decided to dig into the dark underbelly of solar pump amazon – hang on because you may not get your money back.

ECO-WORTHY CUSTOMER REVIEWS

ECO-WORTHY SOLAR WELL PUMP REVIEW FROM VERIFIED PURCHASE 1 out of 5 stars

For all those of you who had a pump failure within the first 12 months, this is why. Having had the pump failure in about 5-7 months, I finally pulled it apart, the design and assembly is inferior, the unit is poorly sealed allowing water to enter the motor’s armature section which leads to deterioration and breakdown of the brushes and wiring connections. I’m presuming all the Eco-Worthy units are built the same, the only difference being the outer casings, lesson learned, onto a different supplier lesson learned.

ECO-WORTHY SOLAR WELL PUMP REVIEW FROM VERIFIED PURCHASE 1 out of 5 stars

Mine lasted only 9 months had 1 year warranty and they will not replace or repair it very sad!!!!!!!

ECO-WORTHY SOLAR WELL PUMP REVIEW FROM VERIFIED PURCHASE 1 out of 5 stars

Pump worked great for about 2 weeks then started leaking. Leaking from seals inside the pump. Poor Quality

BUYER BEWARE Warranty Tricks!

ECO-WORTHY solar pump warranty information is missing from the listing. This is a red flag and is most likely the reason that there are so many reviews saying that the pump broke and the company never responded.

False Claims Made By ECO-WORTHY

False Claim #1 Pump Type

ECO-WORTHY claims the pump uses a centrifugal (impeller) pump according to a listing photo, but when the customer received the pump manual, it stated the pump was a diaphragm pump, which has a much shorter lifespan. It also claims the motor is a permanent magnet motor according to the user manual, however, it is a Brushed DC Motor which will rust and overheat. False Advertising on the part of Eco-worthy cost this customer big time!

False Claim #2 Pump Material is Stainless Steel

ECO-WORTHY claims the solar pump is manufactured using “Stainless Steel Sheet” and “Corrosion-proof housing with stainless-steel fastener”. However, there are multiple reviews that show rusting on the pump exterior and interior that developed quite quickly after installation, indicating that the metal is not high quality stainless steel but some other mystery material. Here’s a review from 2021 with insight on poor corrosion resistance – “I put it into my pool on Memorial Day, May 31. Less than a week later and this “stainless steel” pump is all corroded and stopped working by June 4. What initially was plated, I guess, and looked like stainless steel, but looks like corroded copper. I used it vertically in my swimming pool to pump water to my solar heater collectors on my rooftop. It worked beautifully for the first few days, then it lost its pretty stainless steel finish and looked like corroded copper, yet kept working. Now, all the water inlets are corroded and dripping with rust too. It worked yesterday, but not today. In such a short time, this corrosion resistant pump went bad and no longer works. It still pulls current from my solar panel, but no longer pumps water and does not even oscillate like it did when it was working. The Ph of my pool is 6.8 which is nearly neutral–just slightly acidic. When we swim, it does not hurt our eyes. How can this have caused such damage in such a short time if this is supposed to be stainless steel? I bought it because the ad made it sound corrosion resistant, and I already had a solar panel to run it. I thought it would last for years and save my energy bill. The “good price” was simply too much money for only a week of service. And I thought the ad was deceptive when it said, “Stainless Steel.” I have seen stainless steel prevent corrosion before, but this is not the quality I was led to believe it was. Now, the corrosion from it has stained my pool interior. What are the next steps to resolve this issue, I ask myself. Sometimes a good deal should be declined in favor of a better value.”

False Claim #3 “Durable and has a long service life”

ECO-WORTHY claims in the Amazon listing description, for the ECO-WORTHY solar well pump, that the pump has  “excellent workmanship and long life, providing you with efficient and stable pump work”. In reality, customers are experiencing a range of product lifespans much shorter than anticipated, from 2 days to a few months.

False Claim #4 Pump Operating at 8 Amps, not 4

ECO-WORTHY claims in the Amazon listing description that the pump has an operating current draw of 4 Amps. A discerning buyer found that the pump was drawing double the rated current, closer to 8 Amps, and the company admitted that the listing had not and will not be updated with the current information. There was also no lubrication provided with the pump for proper installation.

Instead of cheap pumps that historically fail, go with an American company with a history of supporting the people!
