Our Pressure-Free Sales Methodology

Nine years ago, RPS made a decision to do things differently and we made public our pledges to serve customers with focus on values and servitude. These pledges, our beliefs and the values we live by as a team, formed the customer service and sales methodologies we chose to adopt and that we continue to evolve and improve to this day. To our knowledge, RPS has the only non-commissioned sales team in the entire pump industry.

1. Be a company our Grandfathers would have trusted. Integrity, honesty, dedication and warmth. 
2. No sales pressure. Ever. Nobody in the company is paid on commission. We think this is important. Their role is to make sure they find the right pump for you and your well. If we don’t have a livestock solar pump that will suit your needs, we will help you find a solution elsewhere. No Commissions from Selling or Upselling, No Bonuses or Spiffs from Selling.
3. Genuinely care and work to facilitate our customer’s success with their products. Steadfastly support them no matter what with empathy and warmth. The trend of ‘outsourcing’ customer support after the sale is a trend we wholeheartedly oppose. We are an American, family run company and our USA engineers support you before and after the sale. 4. Always strive to be better. Always be looking for ways to improve in better serving each other as a team, our world and our customers. 

We are wildly passionate about solar water pumping and excited to share with anyone who wants to listen, but above all else we all care about helping others. We want a genuine agenda-less, pressure-free experience for everyone that calls RPS, whether or not they buy from us. Sales commissions don’t always impact customer experience, but they have the potential to. There are plenty of wonderful, genuine people in sales roles in all industries. But we have also all experienced a few that haven’t been. In building a team and wanting a universally great experience for all customers, any model that involves commissions or bonuses is not for us.

As a team we also benefit from a pressure-free and commission-free environment. As a company we attract teammates that love helping others and that are excited about the mission of getting more solar pumps to the rural reaches of America and beyond. We think “sales” is exponentially more satisfying when our own and our customer’s interests are aligned. We feel a deeper customer connection with customers and our hope is that this whole company feels like a partner to you in taking on a new project. With individualized support, human connection, accessibility, friendliness, knowledge – everyone wins.

Happy customers have led to referrals over the years and growth of the company and team. There are joys, benefits and challenges to this. And we thought we’d share a few. This commission-free model has worked for us, but we certainly aren’t claiming it will work for every company. Challenges 
Hiring is a greater challenge as we must be wildly picky about new teammates as we continue to grow. Everyone must genuinely care and wants to do their best by you, their team, and the world.
Learning curve with the complexity of the product lineup and our commitment to being experts to make sure you get the right solution for you and your property. 
The commission-free model does not adjust to seasonality. Our company payroll is the same even in our slow season. This means RPS has to balance team size carefully to be able to serve customers in the busy summer, but not have to do layoffs when it’s slower in the winter.
