How to Mount a Solar Panel in 5 Steps

  1. Find a location on your property without any shadows or shade from nearby trees or buildings. Specifically, someplace where you can face the solar panels DUE SOUTH.
  2.  Determine the tilt angle for the solar panels. Wondering what tilt angle works best for your property? Check out our Solar Panel Tilt Angle Calculator.
  3. Dig a hole, 30-48″ deep, depending on you sites frost line and local codes.
  4. Set Schedule 40 steel pipe ( 2 3/8″ OD for RPS 2 Panel Mount, 4.5″ OD for RPS 4 or 8 Panel Mount) with cement. It is recommended to use at least two bags of concrete per hole for securing mounting, especially in areas with high winds, soft grounds or high snow loads. If concrete is not available, bury the pole deeper.
  5. Attach adjustable bracketing and railing
