When looking for an efficient way to provide off-grid water for your livestock, gardens or farms, there’s lots of options out there on the internet claiming to provide high quality water pumps for very little $ – but we’ve found that most products don’t turn on after about 6 months of use. Our main focus when designing the RPS 200 and RPS 400 Solar Pump Kits was to provide a cost-effective and reliable solution for pumping water powered completely by the sun.

RPS only manufactures stainless steel pumps, its the only material we’ve found that will hold up for decades of use, and it’s a strong and corrosion-resistant metal that will perform in even poor well water conditions. Our RPS 200 and RPS 400 kits use a slow-start/slow-stop programming that helps to prolong the life of the pumps. Under slow start, the pump to gradually ramp up to full speed when turning on, and ramp down slowly when it stops, reducing wear and tear on the pump close to zero and ensuring that it lasts for as long as possible.

Every controller, pump and solar panel you see has been designed, tested and manufactured to our own in-house engineers specifications. By incorporating high-quality materials and advanced technology, the RPS 200 and RPS 400 are able to provide customers with reliable and efficient solar pump kits that are built to last whether you’re using it for irrigation, residential use, or for your livestock.

The RPS 200 and RPS 400 Solar Pump kits use the same helical rotor water pump and RPS Universal Controller. The only difference between the two is how many solar panels are use. The RPS 200 comes with two rugged aluminum-framed mono-crystalline solar panels, while the RPS 400 includes four of the same type panels. Choosing between the options depends on how much pumping head you will need, the RPS 400 will give you higher pumping head ability and higher flow rates. By just adding two more panels, you’ll get better performance. Plus, if you want to start out with the RPS 200 and upgrade to the RPS 400 later on, its as simple as just adding two more solar panels! Pumping head refers to the vertical distance between the water source and the point where the water needs to be delivered. We calculate things like elevation changes, friction losses, and other factors that may impact the efficiency of the pump. Click here to find what pump is right for you!

Now for a bit more on what’s inside the water pumps itself. Both kits use a helical rotor pump with a DC brushless permanent magnet motor, which is designed to be highly efficient and won’t wear out like brushed motors. The pump is rated for continuous duty, meaning it won’t sputter or overheat even if you use it 24/7, 365. The pump is also field-serviceable and comes with a lifetime rotor warranty. Plus, the kits include a pump controller with industry-leading efficiency from the built-in MPPT, smooth start/stop, hookups for optional batteries, waterproof and bug proof enclosure, and wiring ports for well low and tank full sensors.

Both the RPS 200 and RPS 400 kits also include a range of other components, such as low-water well level sensor and a tank shut-off sensor, both of which come with 100 feet of wire attached. The kits also come with a waterproof heat shrink wire splice kit with pre-crimped pump wires, solar panel cable connectors, and a detailed full-color solar pump guide with step-by-step installation instructions.

The installation process is new to a lot of people, which is why along with the kits, customers are given access to the RPS video archives of installation tips and product walkthroughs, as well as phone, email, and text support from the friendly USA-based RPS engineers.
Solar panel mounting isn’t included in the standard RPS 200 or RPS 400 Solar Pump Kit. We separated the mounting out because some customers want to build their own, and we support that DIY spirit! However, RPS carries easy-to-install Top-of-Pole Mount kits that are adjustable to the season, which means higher efficiency throughout the entire solar year. A step further for customers that are especially remote or just want everything delivered to their door, “Turnkey” kits are available that include pipe, wire and other plumbing parts needed for a fast easy install.
